Nanny Recruitment

Full/Part Time Nanny


Maintain secure environment created by the parents
Provide the children with the opportunity to learn through activities both inside and outside of the home
Discuss parent's requirements and expectations for their children
Discuss any concerns with the parents that they may have about the children
Transport children to and from school/kindergarten if required
Accompany children to activities outside the home
Undertake light housework (discussed at time of interview)

Interim Care Nanny

Interim childcare from 3 hours to 3 months. A great solution for many situations:

Provide experienced care for your children in their own home
Care for the children when they are unwell or you are unwell, or recovering from surgery
School holiday care - providing entertainment and activities to keep your children busy during the holidays
Relieving for your permanent nanny while they are on holiday or sick leave
Allow you to spend time with special visitors, attend appointments, go Christmas shopping or just have time to yourself


Sole-Care Nanny

Is required to live in on a temporary basis:

While you are away
If you require some help settling a new baby
Recovering from surgery
As an 'extra' pair of hands

Sole-charge can vary in length from overnight, a few weeks or two to three months.

Sole-Care Nanny role

Manage the household
Transport children to and from school and to after-school activities when required
Grocery shopping
Light household cleaning
Provide children with 'education', care, support and cuddles they would receive if you were home.

We are available to the nanny for assistance and advice while you are away. If for any reason the nanny could not fulfil her commitment (i.e. illness/bereavement) we would endeavour to replace the nanny with someone of similar background. Should this unlikely situation arise, we would contact you IMMEDIATELY to make sure this was acceptable.


Corporate Care

For organisations who have family friendly programes.


Conference Care

Providing day and evening care and activities while parents attend a conference/training course.


Nanny's wages

Between $11-18+ per hour, depending on their experience and the number of children. The minimum time for an interim care booking is 3 hours.

For Sole charge positions the rate is based on a 24 hour period and ranges from $130.00 to $220.00 per 24 hours.


SuperSitters

Professional babysitting for your peace of mind, SuperSitters are your evening childcare professionals trusted by all major city hotels. Our SuperSitters can be booked 7 days a week for those planned and unplanned occasions.
SuperSitters $15 booking fee, $35.00 for 1st 3 hours, $10.00 there after.

Employment Contracts


Once you have offered a nanny employment we will provide a suggested format for an employment contract. Advice on employment issues is readily available from the bureau. As members of the EMA we can source expert advice from their legal team.


Guarantee

Although we are confident that all our nannies are safe and caring, we acknowledge that, due to the personal nature of the relationship between a family and their nanny, very occasionally things do not work out. For this reason our policy is that we would endeavour to replace a nanny who left within the first 12 weeks for no extra charge. If this were not possible, we would revise our agency fee on the basis of half our normal fee for a temporary nanny. Conditions apply.


Holidays

Full time and permanent part time nannies are eligible for three weeks holiday after one year's service. Alternatively, they are to be paid 6% of their gross income if they leave before completion of one years service or the position was for a duration of less than one year. For temporary nannies on short-term assignments, the annual leave is included in the hourly rate.

Hours

Minimum time an interim care nanny will come to a home is for three hours. Live-in temporary nannies are paid on a 24-hour basis.



Housework

Nannies will do the housework that is related to the child's activities. This will include laundry, meal preparation and clean up and keeping the bedrooms and other areas of the house that they use clean and tidy. Whilst most nannies are happy to do light housework, they do not consider themselves to be cleaners or housekeepers. When contemplating a nanny, please indicate the percentage of the job tasks - i.e. housework/childcare.



Sick leave /Special Leave (Sickness or bereavement)

Nannies on short-term assignments are not entitled to sick leave. Permanent workers whether full time or part time are eligible for 5 days special leave after six months employment.


Tax

Interim Care nannies are paid the gross amount by the family and are responsible for their own tax and work place insurance. Nannies are happy to provide families with invoices for their gross wages if required. Most nannies are not registered for GST.

Full time nannies that are employed for more than 30 hours (IRD's definition) Families should register themselves as an employer, deduct PAYE from the nanny's gross wage and pay it to the IRD monthly. We can assist with identifying providers of wage administration services.

Part time nannies working for a family for up to 30 hours per week should register herself as an IR56 domestic worker. The nanny is responsible for paying her tax on a monthly basis. According to the IRD, nannies do not meet the criteria of being self-employed.



Transport

It is usual to compensate the nanny for using their cars to take children to activities. This can be in the form of a non-taxable allowance and is commonly 62 cents per kilometre. Or you may prefer to "fill up" the car with petrol on a weekly/fortnightly basis.
